Saw this light behind George Wallace’s scupture at McMaster U one night on the way home from work. Took a shot and I like the comp.

I have been playing Batman Arkham City. It’s increadible.

It has some really unfortunate racist connotations but it is a great design. The original print is attached.

Didn’t get a chance to draw tonight…gotta upload an old one.

Original Swanson Ad and the altered painting. Mixed-media, acrylic paint on wood door.

Original Print and final painted (acrylic) board on old door.

Mixed media, oil stick on primed paper and marvel comics (wolverine, weapon X, x-men)

a study of a ‘flexing’ torso I did a while back – Animal Marking Oil sticks and Marvel comics on primed paper

This is an article about the original Domestic Male show held at Loose Canon Gallery on James. The article was (i believe) taken from excerpts of something I had written and sent to the Editor Reg Beaudry. I’m not sure if the paper is in publication anymore but it was a sweet spread and Reg [...]

I’ll let the video speak for itself. All credit for anything good in this monstrosity goes to the band “The Next Best Thing” for their amazing music and wicked moves.

The final film of my thesis year in my undergraduate studies. Continuing on the themes explored in the other short films; memory, loss, death, cultural identity and family. This one focuses on the physical images of my mother. I think at this point I was thinking about photography/film as a medium, and I wanted the [...]

I used a John Deer 14″ chainsaw for all of these and a hand grinder for the “detail”. They were about 1 1/2′ in diameter and approx. 6′ hight, painted and stained with water and acrylic, then treated for outdoor display. One of the originals was eaten from the inside out by flying wood ants, [...]

This diptych was 8′ high and 24′ across. It was comprised of several sheets of 4′x8′ primed stonehenge paper, acrylic paint and oil sticks. It took me about two weeks of work. I tried to come up with all kinds of visual references to Jungian ideas of the collective unconscious colliding with the conscious world. It was pretty grotesque [...]

original flickr photo: wvs I Love them. In any form. I don’t care what medium; film, comics, books, video games, photographs, or posters. Zombies are amazing. Maybe it’s because they are shadowy reflections of ourselves, maybe it’s because of Bruce Campbell and Sam Rami’s brilliant Evil Dead trilogy. George A. Romero may have it right…the zombie [...]

I’ve been googling myself. Everyone does it at some point some of us more than others. Some of us more frequently than others. I do it occasionally to see what has been written about me (good/bad), who can see my personal info, what people can find about me, and where I have left a digital [...]

This is Marlowe. She is just over a year old and is a sweetie. It’s true what they say about dogs being pack oriented…and labs seem to get separation anxiety, so Hunter now has a best bud to play with. The dynamic between the two is hilarious, as Hunter seems like an old grumpy soul, [...]

This is Hunter, and he is my first dog. Well technically he belongs to my wife, as he was a gift from her sister and her husband in May of 2007. They adopted him from the Burlington Animal Shelter, they think he was about 5-6 years of age. When I first met him, I was [...]

I don’t have much to say for this one…I just love horror, Scifi, and pretty much everything about the art that promotes the films. Some of the best graphic design in the world. Hands down. This was the stuff of B-films…and I love them all.

I thought I would post some thoughts on an incredible amalgamut of HTML 5 video, javascript, and google applications tied to dynamic scripts that enable automated camera movements as the music plays. I don’t want to say much, but I think this experiment in creative expression seems to be an incredibly personalized and powerful demonstration [...]

my first short film, shot and edited in 2003 while I was a student studying fine arts at McMaster University. it is an autobiographical journey into my mind, thinking irrationally over a 10 min car ride home. I was anticipating some very bad family news after a cryptic phone call from my father. when under [...]

This flyer was designed by Morgan Rauscher for our first show (group) under the self proclaimed guise: “Artbots”. The group consisted of: Irena Komodanic, Morgan Rauschner, Anna Agostinho, “Bird”(Andrew) Dwyer, Lauralee McGuril, Daniel Hutchinson, and yours truly. The show was well received and was hosted in a local Hamilton gallery, cleverly titled: “the Artist Gallery”.

A short film I created when I was a student at McMaster University, in the Fine Arts program. The film uses footage of myself underwater fully dressed, overlaid with various footage from a family expedition to Europe when we went to visit our extended family for the winter holidays. This was arguably one of the best [...]

Ink and charcoal on some type of japanese paper. This is one in a series of three ink drawings I did in school. I was doing a lot of lithography and learning print making at the time. I was also looking at a lot of really dark illustrations influenced by dantes inferno.

This was the original show flyer I designed for the show at Loose Canon Gallery. Not great but it did the trick. It was taken from an actual piece in the show. acrylic on partial wooden door section. Manipulated image. This was the actual piece in the show. As you can see the “gunner” became [...]

This piece was my favourite piece of the show; “the domestic male”. Not for any secret paternalistic desire, i just like the way it turned out… acrylic on partial wooden door section. Manipulated image. original ad image

Another Beautiful design for a show I did in downtown Hamilton, designed by the ever talented Kristian-David Rogelstad. This show, among others featured friends and fellow artists “the next best thing”. Even though it was a solo show, this show really did culminate and feel to me like a collaborative series.

Going through my old files, I came across this flyer design I hired a friend and colleague of mine, Kristian Rogelstad, to build for me. Needless to say he did a fantastic job, and we had a great turnout to the show. The show was held at the Ground Up Gallery below “the Boom Spot!” in downtown [...]

I’ll need to get a better image of this but this should do for now. This work was originally an image of a female “house-wife” who was situated in the same pose. The process to create the images in this show was a pretty fun one. First the original ads were selected from research (mainly [...]

This one brings back memories…all kinds. This still is composed of two overlapping pieces of digital film; one of my old childhood home, and the other of the Hospital where my mother passed away in 2003. This was part 3 of a series of 5 of short films I produced while in my final year [...]

This series of panels set some closure to the story (open ended of course). The composition for the last panel in the sequence was taken from photography of a guy who spent a lot of time spelunking in sewer systems, and photographing himself in the context of his urban exploration. The members described the exploration [...]

The picture of the Galianno family is actually taken from the godfather movie, a closeup reveals that Frankie Galianno is actually Marlon Brando in the original film photograph. A small nod to Copala. Influences include Year One, Miller and Mazzuchelli.

Not much to say about this sequence of panels. I did quite a bit of grassroots research on the craft of telling a story through the medium of comic books. Scott McLoud was a huge help breaking down how panels function and the relationship of images when they are placed in particular sequences. I also [...]

I can’t draw women. So naturally this was a pretty big challenge for me. She looks kinda like a dude so I guess it didn’t totally work out for me. I was truly making some direct graphic references to Frank Miller’s Sin City. I had to get a special printer to enlarge these drawings when [...]

This panel sequence illustrates the infamous Lister Block building located on James St. North, Hamilton, Ontario. This building has a bizarre history of tenants and owners but now it sits abandoned and plays host to crack addicts and squatters.

This was my little nod to the Hamilton Spectator for the amazing permanent historical archives they fund at the Hamilton Public Library. I spent a couple of days in that area of the library when I was originally doing the research for this work. Anything from organized crime, prostitution, murders, drugs, and the biker culture [...]

This drawing originally had a dual purpose; the cover of the “issue”, and also the main image to promote the show in the gallery window. This work was heavily influenced by artist Jack Kirby, well regarded for his rough angled mastery of depicting the physiology of some of the world’s most famous super heros. I [...]
